Sweet Cider and Taylor Swift

Today was a beautiful day. I sat in sunshine and watched my senior girls play powder-puff football for homecoming week. And then went to church. I was utterly exhausted, but worship was beautiful and sitting among my small group girls was amazing. And at home I came home and listened to Swifty's new CD and sipped sweet cold apple cider. And in this all I rested. And received some fun freedom from the week's craziness. So here I sit, finally blogging, listening to Swift, and drinking sweet cider. Let's all take a long sigh of relief.

With everything that's been going on lately, this song reminds me who's in control. God.

Sounds Like Country.

           Last night I sat with the sky expanding overhead and the soft green grass between my toes. The smell of smoke and beer was wafting through the air. We laid out on the lawn on a patchwork blanket beneath us and sat at the back of the amphitheater near my home and listened to the sweet sounds of country music. Slowly the sun set and air cooled. Stars began to peak through the velvety blanket of sky. I sat among hundreds of country lovers all excited to hear the sweetly sung words of Lady Antebellum.

         With summertime on the verge and the balmy Floridian breeze beginning to pick up I can only pray what  lies ahead this summer is better than the last. That means late nights and evening rains, summer sun and bike rides, long restful days and more time with God. "Oh nothing's sweeter than summer time and American honey..."

Michael Buble' Christmas...

                Yes, its the beginning of November and Thanksgiving still won't take place for a few more weeks, but I honestly will always believe that its never too early to start listening to Michael Buble's new Christmas CD. Its much nicer than his last one and listening to his soothing voice just send chills down my spine. So here, I've given you a little taste of it below.

Ella Fitzgerald

              
           For some reason I've been just been into old music like Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole recently. Why? Well, for one thing, its a nice change of pace, but more than that, I just enjoy listening to "upbeat/ jazzy" stuff lately. Its just so classic. Even though the music is old, its not overbearing like some 80's stuff and its good for everything. Whether its reading or scrap-booking or blogging...Its just.... timeless. Even old-sounding music sung in french has been absolutely acute to my musical tastes. Saxophones, trumpets, and piano notes have been heard through my side of the house lately that's for sure. I mean how can lyrics like these not make you swoon?

              Maybe another reason I love this music so much is because I love the era it was famous in. The whole idea of going out to swing-dance has always kept me beyond interested. I think some day I'll take up swing-dancing lessons and really get into it. Sounds like fun to me!
